And in what in the blue fuck is going in in the world news, the judge who sentenced Brock Turner (the Stanford Rapist) to only six months in jail did so because he (the judge) believed a longer sentence would have a “severe impact” on Turner. Prison is supposed to have a severe impact on a person, and Brock Turner wasn’t convicted of failing to pay his parking tickets. He sexually assaulted a woman who was unable to consent (which will have a severe impact on her for the foreseeable future).
When did we become the people who worry so much about how prison will affect the convicted rapist that we’re not going to send him there? And where do we go from here…will we become Saudi Arabia & sentence the rape victim to a public lashing and prison term because she was “asking for it”?
