30 Day Self Esteem Challenge

Day Twenty-six: Do you often accept compliments?  If not, why?

My mother was very very critical.  She never passed up a chance to remind me how fat I was, how saggy my breasts, etc.

Well I guess I started to believe what she said was true, started to see myself as she saw me.  There came a point where if someone would compliment me, I’d think they were lying, I’d reject the compliment because I didn’t believe it.  But I’m working on that.

  1. I have had the same issue. My mom, then my ex, would tell me things about myself that were so critical and I started to believe them. And then someone told me that what they had been saying for years was not true and offered me some other words, complimentary ones, so I repeated them daily like a mantra, every time I passed a mirror. And slowly but surely, it worked. Good luck with your own uphill battle!
